Import RSS news items into Joomla articles

October 29, 2008 · Filed Under Joomla

Situation like this:

You want some RSS items to be regulary imported into your Joomla Site in a way that every rss news item becomes new article (content item).
Joomla Feed Gator is excellent component for that. Now you can find a good rss source and always have fresh articles on your site. Bot can be maximaly automated using cron jobs. You can put new articles in whatever section/category you want. You can choose not publish link from where is article fetched and you will have new article completly as you written it. Component is using now SimplePie parser for maximum compatibility with different feeds.
If you have a problems with some feeds nad feed gator then burn your feed first with the Feed Burner and turn option for maximum compatibility… Also you can use no follow plugin (find it on Joomla extension site) and make any link your feed burner import with atribute rel=”nofollow”…

However be carefull not to use this to steal someone content also you would probably be penalized by Google for duplicated content. So if you looking further for a way to import rss new into your Joomla articles then this component is just right for you.

Is there anyway to stop people stealing your feeds?

  4. Hellas on February 7th, 2009 9:45

There is. You can make that your feeds are not complete article so if someone want to read them then it must go on your page. So the stealer would not have good use. Other then that you cant actualy stop it. You can contact person and ask him to stop stealing your threads and topics.
