There are many different branches of internet marketing but the most popular by far is the affiliate aspect. Selling someone’s product and making a % commission off each sale you make. It’s a great and easy way to open up multiple income streams while working from the safety and comfort of your own home.

What is a Niche?
A niche is a group of people we want to market our product to. For instance if we’re marketing ‘weight loss’ then our niche is ‘people who want to lose weight’ of course the more precise we can be ‘people who want to lose weight within 7 days and without breaking their current diet’ the easier it will be to market.

That’s why understanding the niche is so crucially important, because all the keywords and articles you write up should be aimed directly at your niche. However where most people mess up isn’t picking a product or designing their website but it’s at the point of picking their niche, which to your surprise might not seem like the most important aspect of it but think again.

Your niche determines a few things;
1.How much competition you’re going to be facing?
2.How targeted is your audience? Do you know exactly who you want to hit?
3.How much money will you have to spend to rank for this niche?

So how should you be picking a niche? Well the best way is also the simplest way – think about what you enjoy and like. Find something that you are knowledgeable about and think if there’s a problem where you can offer a ‘solution’. If you keep watch on this points it would be much easier for you to make money online.

For instance if you’re a big golfer then use that as your niche, just break it down into a smaller category then check the keywords, how easily can you dominate this niche? Keep looking until you find one which looks promising.

Finding a niche takes time, don’t sit down for 10 minutes and expect instant results. Give it some time to come to you, but finding the right niche will be VERY profitable – so do it right the first time.

No matter, whether you are having a website or a blog, building a PageRank seems to be something that you can’t afford to miss out. Though, there would be hardly anybody who hasn’t heard about Google PageRank but for those who don’t know PageRank is a link analysis algorithm used by the Google, the major search engine, which assigns a numerical value from 0-10. The basis on which this numerical weightage or value is assigned to each element of a hyperlinked set of document on a website, blog or any web page on a world wide web.

PageRank (PR) actually measures the importance of that particular webpage as compared to other websites on the Internet. There are many things that count for a PR, such as the quantity and quality of inbound links, sometimes a few quality outbound links, content relevancy, keyword usage, importance of keywords and key phrases etc. Other factors that also affect PR are the relevance of search words on the page and actual visits to the page reported by the Google using its toolbar.

Though, there are several techniques that help boost the PR of your website or blog, but you as a successful blogger should focus on the content first. You must put content that has several “how to”, “what to do”, “do it yourself” and other most searched terms in it. Instead of using content that has a shelf life, such as news stories, current events etc. you must post content that won’t get obsolete very fast.

Your content should address issues and problems faced by common readers with full of tips and guidelines in it. So if people will find useful information at your blog they are more likely to bookmark your blog and even refer others. Most bloggers and even SEO professional strongly believe that bloggers should focus on the content first and ranking second. If first thing is done properly, second thing is bound to follow it.

Apart from just the main body text, a due care should be given to titles, headings, opening and closing sentences including keywords or search terms people type to find some particular information related to your blog content. Never think like an expert while deciding to write some useful content, instead of that always think like a layman and write like an expert who is writing for laymen in a simple, short and succinct style.

Next, not just focus on the main keywords that people type to look for some particular information, but also use synonyms, plurals and almost identical words for titles, headlines, body text and even while designing category names or sub category names. Also file extensions don’t matter when it comes to better search engine ranking and PR. Therefore, always make sure you never use .exe file extensions. Other most important thing is to use alt text on images and other audio and video files or links on your blog.

Also when shifting or moving your original domain, it is always recommended to use a 301 redirect to preserve your rankings as one of the most precious things in your life. Next most important thing is that never put extra efforts into making Meta tags as Google doesn’t give them much weightage for better ranking. Nowadays there are many tools available that can help achieve better search engine ranking and improved PR such as RankSense that is very easy to implement and install. You can save a lot of time, energy and efforts using them, especially when you are just a beginner.

Some questions are hard and some looks very stupid, but one can only imagine what all answers people give. Probably on some questions creativity is main thing what Google look for.

Anyway here is the copy paste from their site:

How would you boost the GMail subscription base?

What is the most efficient way to sort a million integers?

How would you re-position Google’s offerings to counteract competitive threats from Microsoft?

How many golf balls can fit in a school bus?

You are shrunk to the height of a nickel and your mass is proportionally reduced so as to maintain your original density. You are then thrown into an empty glass blender. The blades will start moving in 60 seconds. What do you do?

How much should you charge to wash all the windows in Seattle?

How would you find out if a machine’s stack grows up or down in memory?

And on this blogpost you can check for 140 questions which Google give to their possible employees

Those who dont know what I am talking about should SEO contest article on Wikipedia. Anyway I decided to give this contest a shot, but it looks it will be harder then on Sulumits Retsambew to get success here, even competition looks smaller. Again name is not so inventive, since again we have some word written backward, in this case “SEO Contest” which gave “OES TSETNOC”.

First price is again 1000$, second 300$ and third 200$.

There are some rules but nothing hard and imposible.

I did not do anything special, just copied old SR wordpress theme, installed plugins and added link through my pages.

Since I am not having enough time, I will just play easy with no strings attached.

But I don’t have a clue what to pick since I don’t have much money so I can not afford one of these best laptops today. One thing I know for sure is that I want 17” LCD on it or even larger. I used many time 15,6” wide screen laptops but I was never really satisfied with it. Once you get used on large diagonals and resolutions you can never return back. Next thing is that I don’t need strong graphic card on it, but fast processor and a bunch of ram gigabytes would be also cool. Other cool thing would be SSD hard drive but that is probably out of my money range. One of the cheap choices is Acer eMachines G725 with 17” wide screen monitor, T4200 Intel Dual Core, Intel GMA Graphics and 2GB of DDR II ram. I would probably put in 2 GB more. Its price is incredibly cheap with price less then a 1000$.

Hmm what to do?

That contest gave me few more jobs, and main one is to optimize Online Ordering site. There is maybe around 20 days until end of the Sulumits Retsambew seo contest and things are getting tight. My www.sulumitsretsambew.org is still on the top, from the begining, but people are becoming active and many changes are happening. That is the enough for me to start work more on the contest and try to defend my place against attacking opponents.

I am having troubles building links. Just stopped at 16k and no matter do I build them or not, they always stay on the same ammount. My main opponent now has them over 19k.

Interesting thing is my supporter Sulumits Retsambew entry at my old Opera blog. It getting higher and higher. From page 10 to position 29. From position 29 to 23, from 23 to 20 and finally from 20 to position 19 and second serp page. I am still thinking to help or not help that site with little bit of backlinks, or to spend that time to my official Sulumits Retsambew entry.

Sulumits Retsambew SEO contest is nearly at the end. One more month and we will have winners who hardly worked last 5 months for their positions. Contest showed much information to the skilled eye. For example, Google showed his supremacy over the other search engines, by indexing biggest amount of pages and showing the most relevant results (by keeping the sulumits retsambew .org on the first position). It indexed nearly 2 million of pages. Very scary if you ask me. I am wondering how the contestant actually gained so much backlinks. This is proof that there is over 500 contestants which tried to optimize their entry and win nice price of 1000$.

Our Evil Science site stayed long time on second page for Sulumits Retsambew term, but competition ate us.

Now the main favorites for winning are Hellas, Sunita and Sony.

Battle until the end.

I just removed my Opera 9.64 and installed Opera 10 Beta 1. New Opera even in Beta is stable enough for daily use, and I must admit it is pure evil. Its faster then ever. Facebook is working now smooth like a milk, javascript speed is faster more then 20 times. Few javascript intense pages now do not slow down Opera. Acid 3 test is hitting score 100/100. There is new skin but old skin are working flawless, so I just brought back old one Tango CL skin. One thing is not working for me. My userjs SEObar script. Hope I will manage it somehow. Obviously M2 client got upgraded too.

This new opera is introducing us two new great features. First one is Automatic Update. From now on, we will have always latest Opera automaticly. Second one is inline spell checker. This is something that most Opera users awaited eagerly. Now when I type any English text on any text box, Opera is checking my spelling. Great thing for non English speakers.

One another thing I just noticed is new function for tab bar. You can resize it. But when you resize over certain border, tabs becomes thumbnails of open webpages. Quite interesting effect

Love is in the air

Since my number of sites is starting to grow, I am experiencing oftenly lack of knowledge about databases. I can create mysql databases, make import, export and backups. I can make simple queries from PHP, basically simple stuff, but I want to know more. Detailed information about them, differences, good and bad things between database types, how do they function and work. More details about database architectures, fixing broken databases and why databases even get broken. Currently, I found just a few worthy sites about databases, database guides is jumping to my eyes, so as wikipedia database articles. After finishing reading all their articles will start with some practical tutorials. Maybe I should buy some database bible book.
