Like a webcam, but for industrial use

Connect the camera, focus, get the image – this is especially useful when object distances change frequently. Therefore, it is quite common to employ webcams in kiosk and robotics applications. However, these models are usually designed for the consumer market. With the uEye XC, IDS Imaging Development Systems has launched an industrial camera with autofocus that is just as easy to operate as a webcam and always delivers high-resolution, detailed images and videos and offers additional benefits.

Unlike webcams from the consumer sector, the compact uEye XC camera is specially designed for industrial requirements. Its components score with long availability – a must for industrial applications. Customers can choose between programmable models – thanks to the USB3 Vision protocol – and Plug&Play functionality, which is available for variants with the new UVC protocol. The abbreviation UVC stands for USB Video Class and means that the camera only requires a cable connection for setup and operation.

Combination of industrial quality and webcam functionality closes market gap

With dimensions of only 32 x 61 x 19 mm (W x H x D) and a screw-type USB micro-B connector, the camera can be easily integrated into image processing systems. In the USB3 version, the 13 MP sensor delivers 20 frames per second at full resolution and ensures high image quality thanks to BSI pixel technology ("Back Side Illumination"). Useful functions such as 24x digital zoom, automatic white balance and colour correction ensure that all details are captured perfectly.

The comprehensive uEye XC starter set allows customers to test the autofocus camera extensively and deploy it as quickly as possible. In addition to the camera, tripod and cable, the set also includes a macro lens. Thanks to this lens, the camera with the AR1335 rolling shutter colour sensor from onsemi is also suitable for demanding applications at close range, as it easily shortens the minimum possible object distance and thereby opens up additional application possibilities.
