I just removed my Opera 9.64 and installed Opera 10 Beta 1. New Opera even in Beta is stable enough for daily use, and I must admit it is pure evil. Its faster then ever. Facebook is working now smooth like a milk, javascript speed is faster more then 20 times. Few javascript intense pages now do not slow down Opera. Acid 3 test is hitting score 100/100. There is new skin but old skin are working flawless, so I just brought back old one Tango CL skin. One thing is not working for me. My userjs SEObar script. Hope I will manage it somehow. Obviously M2 client got upgraded too.

This new opera is introducing us two new great features. First one is Automatic Update. From now on, we will have always latest Opera automaticly. Second one is inline spell checker. This is something that most Opera users awaited eagerly. Now when I type any English text on any text box, Opera is checking my spelling. Great thing for non English speakers.

One another thing I just noticed is new function for tab bar. You can resize it. But when you resize over certain border, tabs becomes thumbnails of open webpages. Quite interesting effect :D

Love is in the air :D

database 150x150 Database guides and tutorialsIt looks time is come to start learning about databases. Since my number of sites is starting to grow, I am experiencing oftenly lack of knowledge about databases. I can create mysql databases, make import, export and backups. I can make simple queries from PHP, basically simple stuff, but I want to know more. Detailed information about them, differences, good and bad things between database types, how do they function and work. More details about database architectures, fixing broken databases and why databases even get broken. Currently, I found just a few worthy sites about databases, database guides is jumping to my eyes, so as wikipedia database articles. After finishing reading all their articles will start with some practical tutorials. Maybe I should buy some database bible book.

iPhone 3G

I am not so much interested for mobile phones but while searching for smart phones this one blow me away. iPhone 3G!
3G iPhone is smart mobile phone by Apple (is there anyone who did not heard for them). It has that fancy design, so as all Apple products but iPhone 3G have great options and hardware under the skin. It is the advanced version of common iPhone. This phone is coming without keyboard. Actually it have keyboard – virtual keyboard on its screen, sensitive to touch. 2mpx camera is also here. Most interesting function for me is full 802 b/g wifi adapter for internet connection and UMTS or HSDPA 3G standard. His 400 MHz processor is probably strong enough for coffee surf. Also I am wondering how Opera Mini (even if Apple is against this – they prefer that you use Safari) would work on this thing. Read more

Converting docx to .doc

May 20, 2009 · Filed Under Other · Comment

Few days ago I got by mail some word document which I badly needed. I thought publishing will be quick job, but…

…but then I realized that my Office XP can’t open it. I tried to open it by force but I only got garbage. Quickly looking at the Google I realized that Microsoft changed format in Office 2007 and that I would need some converter or new Office. I quickly tried to contact the guy who sent me file, but it was to late he was offline so my only choice was to search for converter. Firstly I wanted to find as much as I can about the format. Docx net site was very helpful. I found that I can find plugin for my Office or I can use online converter tool. Since I thought I will not need this again I decided to use online tool at http://docx-converter.com/. Simply I browsed my file and gave them my email address. Five minutes later I got my file.

Easy as pie.

Setting up custom domain name servers on GoDaddy

May 19, 2009 · Filed Under Other · Comment

I just moved this site to my new reseller and I got privat domain nameservers. However before they were operational I needed to setup them on my registrar. So here are the steps how to do it on GoDaddy.

1. Login to GoDaddy
2. Go to My Domain
3. Open the details for given domain
4. In the lower left corner under „Host Summary“ click on add
5. Enter the needed data (ns1 or ns2 and IP you get from your host)
6. Click Save
7. If needed repeat step 4 to add another domain name server.
8. Click on your domain nameservers (top middle).
9. Enter your newly created custom domain name servers.
10. Hit Save.
11. Wait propagation of dns across the net (it can last up to 24-48 hours)

If you prefer to watch video tutorial for creating custom domain name servers then watch this clip.
